The Game:
Each studio will start with two hundred and twenty five million dollars ($225.0 mil) to purchase movies in the Marketplace. Opportunities for additional funds to purchase movies will be available through the Weekend Showdown and price changes. The studio with the largest total of final grosses from all movies owned in their final portfolio wins. All terms in bold defined below.

Number of Studios:
A player can only play one studio per game. Any player caught with more than one studio will be disqualified.

Marketplace:
Movies in the game for purchase are designated as (B) for Blockbuster, (S) for Sleeper, (C) for Clearance and (L) Limited. You must own at least one movie in each category in your final studio portfolio. You may only own One (1) Blockbuster in your final portfolio. You may only own Seven (7) Limiteds in your final portfolio. There is no limit on the number of Sleeper or Clearance titles you may own. So one of each, no more than one B, no more than seven L's! The limits above only apply to final portfolios, you may hold more than 1 Blockbuster or 7 Limiteds at any point prior to try and increase your worth. Any studio that doesn't abide by these restrictions will be disqualified. Additional movies may be added to the Marketplace at any time.

Grosses:
You will receive the grosses for every movie you hold in your studio past 4pm CST on the movie's release date. Once you hold a movie past 4pm CST on the movie's release date, it is in your studio's final portfolio and you can no longer sell it. A Movie's final gross = the sum of the movie's first THREE weekends from its opening weekend in the game. For the Limiteds only, you will receive Ten (10) times the movie's final gross of the first THREE weekends. All grosses will be rounded to the hundredths place. Any purchase funds unused by the end of the game are rendered useless and are not added to the grosses. Weekly grosses will be posted on Tuesdays.

Price Changes:
The purchase prices of the movies in the game will change three times a week, on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (for exceptions see Holiday Weekends below). The price changes will begin on Thursday, October 15th. Through buying low and selling high you can make additional funds to purchase even more movies for your studio. Price changes can occur at anytime during these days. However, generally price changes on Tuesday and Thursday will be made between noon and 3pm CST, and after 2pm CST on Sunday. The Marketplace will display the date and time of the last price change at the top of the page. Prices changes will be in increments of 0.25 mil and there will be no change greater than 2.0 mil for a given movie at one time. The range of the prices for the Limiteds only will be no lower than .25 million and no higher than 9.75 million, the price changes will occur only within that range. Price changes will be based on internet movie buzz, movie news and reviews, previews, market choices of players, and the poetic whims and prejudices of the game mistress.

Final Portfolio:
You may buy and sell films through your portfolio as frequently as you'd like, but once a film you own has opened in theaters it becomes "locked" and become part of your Final Portfolio. It is the grosses of this Final Portfolio (that includes at least 1 B, 1 L, 1 C and 1 S) that will determine your rank in the standings. None of the grosses of films in your final portfolio can be used to purchase other films.

Weekend Showdown:
Each studio can bet up to 3.0 mil of their available purchase funds each weekend from 10/16-10/18 to 12/18-12/20 on the Weekend Showdown posted by 4pm CST each Thursday. Wins will be added to the studio's purchase funds on the following Tuesday. The Weekend Showdown is not mandatory, but is recommended, as it offers another way to gain funds.

Duration of the Game:
The Marketplace opens on Sunday October 4, 2009. The first price change (see above) will be Thursday October 15, 2009. The first day that a movie goes into release is Friday October 16, 2009 and the last day a movie goes into release is Friday, December 25, 2009. All non-holiday weekends will be three day weekends consisting of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For holiday weekends, see below.

Holiday Weekends:
All weekends will be three day weekends consisting of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday EXCEPT for the following holiday weekends:
Thanksgiving Weekend: consists of 5 days (Wed Nov 25 - Sun Nov 29)

Some price changes will also be affected by the holiday weekends and other familial occurrences.
There will not be any changes on Thursday November 26th, Sunday November 29th and Thursday December 24th.

Release Date Changes:
If a release date changes and it is still within the time frame of the game, the movie will be moved to the new date and retained for the game. If the release date changes to a time frame outside the game, it is simply removed from the game. If you owned the movie, the price at which you purchased the movie will be refunded.

Limited Titles:
Limited titles are a feature of the Winter game. They have special rules that apply only to them so pay close attention while reading this page. Limiteds are very volatile in their release dates and may move around quite a bit. The intent is for a Limited to be a limited release movie, under 800 theatres. For that reason the Game Mistress will retain the right to change the category of a movie, but will only do so up to 14 days before a movie's release date. Sometimes studios fail to report grosses for limiteds. Game Mistress will use best efforts to determine a reasonable estimate in that situation using a default .01 million as a minimum.

Deadlines:
Deadlines for purchases or sales of movies going into release are always 4pm CST on the day of the movie's release. Deadlines for Weekend Showdown bets will be 4pm CST on Friday, except for the Holiday Weekend when it will be on Wednesday for Thanksgiving (See Holiday Weekends above).

Timezones:
4pm CST = 2pm PST (-2hrs); 3pm MST(-1hr); 5pm EST(+1hr); 10pm in the London, England (+6hrs); 11pm in Paris, France(+7hrs); midnight in Athens, Greece(+8hrs); 4am the next day in Jakarta, Indonesia (+12hrs); 5am the next day in Hong Kong (+13hrs).
